With Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan he demonstrated the extent of his talent, winning four Liga, four Serie A, a UEFA Cup winners’ Cup and the Champions League and a Ballon d’Or in 2000 following an outstanding season.

As captain, he led the Portuguese team to the final of the Euro 2004 and to the semi-final of the 2006 World Cup, their best results in 40 years.

Luis Figo is still the most capped Portuguese player with 127 caps and 32 goals.
