During 1972, the “Bomber” scored 72 goals with Bayern Munich (42 goals in the Bundesliga, 7 in the German Cup, 11 in Europe and 12 during the League Cup). During this same season he scored 13 goals with Der Mannschaft making a total of 85 goals in 60 games, for the scary ratio of 1.4 goals/game.
Müller won many trophies including four German championships with Bayern (1968–69, 1971–72, 1972–73 and 1973–74), the Cup Winner’s Cup (1966-67, three Champions Leagues in a row (1973–74, 1974–75 and 1975–76) and the Ballon d’Or in 1970 (the first German to win one) after winning the Golden Shoe at the 1970 World Cup.
In his prime he won the European Championship in 1972 and the World Cup in 1974.
Gerd Müller will always be remembered as one of the greatest goal scorers of all time.
